African-American Athlete Resource Directory (Book)

This important directory focuses predominantly on concerns about race relations african american health and social injustices towards African Americans in college athletics. The directory provides bibliographies of African Americans in sports, black newspapers african american health and magazines, museums, Halls of Fame, african american health and audio visual resources. Brooks is a Professor african american health and Dean of the School of Physical Education at West Virginia University. Dr. Brooks' research, publications african american health and professional presentations have focused on the African American student-athlete experience, coaching career mobility patterns, african american health and race relations within intercollegiate athletics. Dr. Brooks served as Chairperson of the following West Virginian University committees: Athletic Council, Social Justice african american health and Affirmative Action. Dr. Brooks is a member of the North American Society for Sport Sociology african american health and the American Alliance for Health, Physical Education, Recreation, african american health and Dance. He serves on the Editorial Board of the Journal of Sport african american health and Social Issues. For recreation, he enjoys tennis, racquetball, photography, african american health and travel. Ronald Althouse is a professor of sociology, Chairperson of the Department of Sociology african american health and Anthropology, african american health and Director of the Survey Research Center at West Virginia University. He received the M.A. african american health and Ph.D. degrees in sociology from the University of Minnesota. Dr. Althouse's research interests african american health and publications have focused on workers' health, health care delivery, african american health and health systems. As Director of West Virginia University's Survey Research Center, Dr. Althouse has consulted on issues as diverse as the well-being of West Virginia's children or citizen's expression of environmental risk. He has contributed to the literature on athletic participation, african american health and is committed to efforts focused on social justice in sports. He co-edited Racism in College Athletics: The African-American Experience (1993; Fitness Information Technology, Inc.) with Dana Brooks. In his leisure time he enjoys bicycling, is an avid science fiction reader, african american health and enjoys jazz.
